Hilary Price Jones
I always loved to write as a child. My career in business involved me writing many workshops, presentations, business plans/proposals and business manuals.
Around 2014 I joined Hertford Writers Circle and the group was instrumental in encouraging me to pursue my love of creative writing. I write short stories, poems and the occasional business article. The genres of writing I currently work in, include, history, women’s fiction and literary fiction.
I am working on six short stories about women in different time periods and situations. I still have to complete a historical novel I started many years ago! Now retired I intend to devote more time to writing and involve myself in literary events such as York Literature Festival.
I am inspired by the ordinary, as they say real life can be stranger than fiction. I grew up with older relatives and friends settling down by the fire and ‘telling the tale’. I was always intrigued to hear about how experiences and life events had shaped them. I have a great interest in history, archaeology, travel, the performing and healing arts, mysticism and personal development: all are a rich source of inspiration to me.
Over the years I have had business articles published, for example Building Your Resilience as a Practitioner (September 2016), Nurturing and Growing Your Therapy Business (December 2016) in the Association of Reflexologists magazine, Reflexions. I have had two short stories published in the Hertford Writers Circle anthologies HWIT –A Saxons Story (2016) and Maggie’s Angel (2019.) I am also a member of the Writers Tree group and will have a short story Monday Morning published in their anthology in 2022.
